Riddled by unemployment, language barriers, poverty and discrimination, Ethiopian immigrants seldom find opportunities to thrive in Israel. Leo Baeck’s Elementary School Scholarships for Ethiopian Students aim to combat these problems from a young age. Every year, select graduates of the Beit Ligdol Tov Early Childhood and Development Center are invited to continue receiving an excellent education in the warm, supportive and enriching environment of the Leo Baeck Elementary School.
On average, Leo Baeck has 10 students from Ethiopian families of limited means who study on a full scholarship at the Elementary School. The outstanding education they receive ensures not only the removal of literacy gaps, but also instills Jewish values of leadership, mutual respect and active citizenship.
