Beit Ligdol Tov and Mercaz Ruth, Leo Baeck’s satellite centers in Western Haifa’s Kiryat Sprinzak neighborhood, provided hundreds of at-risk children and youth with an active and enriching summer holiday.
Beit Ligdol Tov – Summer Programs for Tots and Young Children
2-9 year old children participated in a variety of exciting and enriching activities at Beit Ligdol Tov this summer. In addition to a daily summer camp, children went on numerous field trips including the Tel Aviv Water Park and the Ramat Gan Safari. Afternoon programs included arts & crafts, cooking, a petting zoo, storytelling and more.
Ruth Center – Summer Programs for Children
40 elementary school children attended a special summer camp at the Ruth Center. This new program was created to provide child care for the months of July and August for parents who could not afford to send their children to the city’s other summer camp programs. The cost was only 300 NIS (approximately $80) for the entire summer, and included theater, acrobatics, ceramics, sports, cooking and more. The Ruth Center also hosted a group of children from the Center for the Visually Impaired.
Ruth Center – Summer Programs for Youth
More than 300 teenagers from a variety of schools and neighborhoods in Haifa joined us in sports and wellness events, movie nights, karaoke, cooking classes, music events, and field trips that included kayaking, urban tours, and a trip to an amusement park. To keep teens off the streets at night, the Ruth Center’s multimedia room, including a pool table, X-BOX and ping pong, was made available to them on weekday afternoons and evenings until 11 p.m. Summer programming ended with a very well attended pool party at Leo Baeck’s Sports Center.
