On November 5, 2015, fifty members of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) Federation of New York participated in a seminar organized by the Leo Baeck Community Center,
the Israel Association of Community Centers (IACC), and Shdemot, the Center for Community Leadership – Oranim College, hosted at the Leo Baeck Education Center in Haifa. Leo Baeck’s Community Center was chosen and presented as a national model to the URJ Federation guests through lectures and workshops describing its programs and activities. Ran Froehlich, CEO of the IACC, and Dani Fessler, Managing Director of the Leo Baeck Education Center, were among the lecturers who addressed the participants. The workshops, moderated by community center staff, included the following topics:
- A Framework for Accessibility and Inclusion of the Mentally Disabled in the Community
- The Ein Ha-Yam Trail: Shared Existence in a Mixed Arab-Jewish Neighborhood
- How Jewish Identity Builds a Community Infrastructure
- The ‘3-M Model’: the Community Center as a Means to Promoting Community Leadership
